December 23, 1925 - February 17, 2020
The time has come, to say goodbye to a beautiful lady, Julia Aleksandra Jarosinski (nee Rouck). She passed away peacefully in her chair, in her home, in Lumby, on February 17, 2020. How lucky we have been to have her enrich our lives with her knowledge, wit, humour, and strong work ethic. Right to the end she was playing bridge, crocheting, and participating in daily Mass.
Born in Wilno, Poland on December 23, 1925. She grew up on her family estate of Prostanszczyzna, in what is now Belarus. This idealic setting was disrupted with the outbreak of World War 2, in which her family was forced to leave. She and her family were put in a cattle car and deported to Siberia. For almost two years they endured many hardships and hunger. In 1942, amnesty allowed them to leave Siberia and our mom ended in a Polish refugee camp, Tengeru, in East Africa. In 1957, Julia came to Canada and married Wieczyslaw Jarosinski. They lived in Ocean Falls, BC and raised 4 children. In 1972 the family moved to Lumby.
Julia was predeceased by her son Tadeusz (Ted) in 1981 and her husband Wieczyslaw (Tom) in 2005. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Irena (Jeff) McDonald, Kazimierz (Kathryn) Jarosinski and Zofia (Ron) Yeomans, and her grandchildren Matthew, Mark (Sarah), Julia, Thomas, and Edward.
In her 94 years she accomplished and participated in many activities. She was an active member in the Catholic Church and was a CWL member for over 60 years. Her faith never wavered. Julia was also active in the Vernon Multicultural Association. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and was an active member of the Vernon branch of the Polish Combatant's Association. Julia was determined to preserve the language and culture by teaching all four offspring to read and write Polish. She was a loving example of godly faithfulness, perseverance, and kindness. We will miss her playful sense of humour and warm smile.
Julia supported many causes. If you wish to leave donations, please send them to a charity of your choice. Funeral Mass took place Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lumby. Arrangements were made by Pleasant Valley Funeral Home.
