Julian Arnold Lyder (Joe)
Our much loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather left us to be with his Lord and Master, at the age of 90 years young. Julian will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Edna; his five children, Allan (Anita) Jewell, Earl Jewell, Kathleen (Jim) Dennison, Dianne (Randy) Brown and Pam Jewell (Rex); his eight grandchildren, Nikki (Karl), Eric, Stephanie (Gary), Lisa, Jim, Jordan, Megan and Marty; his two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Madeleine; one brother, Leonard Dalemo; and one sister, Vi (Dick) Paul. Born June 15, 1917 in Gonvick, Minnesota, USA, Julian was raised on the family farms in both Minnesota and Saskatchewan. He was a proud member of the Saskatchewan Light Infantry during WWII and met Edna, his wife of 60 years, while in training at the Vernon Army Camp. Settling in Vernon after the war, Julian spent his time between logging, returning to Saskatchewan to help on the family farm and working as a heavy duty mechanic (he could fix anything!) He enjoyed a good game of crib and the Norwegian coffee pot was always on. In his last seven years he was an example to all of us as he faced physical adversity with courage, dogged determination and acceptance. He loved his family and his family loved him. We will miss him dearly. Interment in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery preceded a Celebration Of Julian’s Life which will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5151 Alain Road, on Saturday, November 17th, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Roy White officiating. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Julian to Lutheran World Relief, c/o St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5151-Alain Road, Vernon, B.C.
