Harvey Clausen fell asleep in death during the early hours of May 13, 2014 in Vernon Jubilee Hospital and will remain in Jehovah’s care until his resurrection.
Harvey was born in Holborn, Alberta in his grandparent’s home but later moved with his family to Edmonton. In 1952, Harvey moved to Vernon to be a logger. This decision changed the rest of his life as a logging accident in 1953 left him a paraplegic. This accident refocused him and he was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness on October 25, 1958. Though Harvey was told at the time of his accident that a paraplegic rarely reached 30 years of age, he surprised us all when he was married at 60 and lived to the ripe old age of 79.
Harvey will be lovingly remembered and fondly missed by his wife, Zora; brother-in-law Garth Davidson and his children: Brian, Lawrie, Bonnie, Barbara and Leigh; four step-children: Fred, Henry, Pat and Jenny, many great nieces and nephews and good friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 24 at 2:00 pm in the West Kingdom Hall, 1424 Mission Road, Vernon, BC. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Okanagan Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness, c/o 1424 Mission Road, Vernon, BC V1T 9H9.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the care workers, doctors and nurses who have helped Harvey over the years with a special “thank you” to Fred who assisted daily in his care. We know without your assistance we could not have kept him close to us for so long.
