June Grace Haller

It is with joyful sadness that we announce the passing of June “Grace” Haller (nee Quist) at the Gateby Care Residence on Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 at the age of 77 years. Although we are sad that she has physically left us, we are so happy for her that she has gone to be with Jesus.

Grace was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on June 18th, 1930. She grew up in Marwayne, Alberta and moved with her family to Armstrong, B.C. where she finished her high school and met Albert Haller whom she married in 1951.

Grace will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Albert; her son, Ken (Jesse and Mitchell); her daughter, Gail (Colin, Brock, Braden and Taylor) Matejka; her son, Mervin (Shayla, Alysha and Lane); her son, Laurie (Tori, Gralyn and Korden); three brothers, Bob, Carl and Ralph Quist; two sisters, Lillian Meneice and Ann McEwan and their families. Grace was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Glen Quist.

Grace was always involved in the Armstrong First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, played the piano, sang, worked with the youth groups and children’s programs. She also loved working at Sunnybrae Bible Camp. She loved her life on the farm, helping her husband wherever she could, tending to the chores and nursing the young animals. Grace especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and they could always count on homemade cookies and cakes in her kitchen. Grace also took on part time jobs working at Willowdale, Green Valley Estates, Valley Auction and the I.P.E., to name a few. She loved her sports, especially hockey and lacrosse and was involved in Armstrong Minor Hockey. Grace’s passion in life was her faith, family and her friends.

Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Grace’s Life which will be held at First Baptist Church, 3185 Becker Street in Armstrong on Friday, December 28th, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Bruce Christensen officiating. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Grace to The Gateby Residence, 3000 Gateby Place, Vernon, B.C.
