June Osborn

June passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, April 26, 2010 in the Vernon Hospital in her 98th year.

She was born June 5, 1912 in Kirkby Lonsdale, England and moved with her family to Parksville in 1914. Starting at an early age, horses became her passion and continued throughout her life. As a youngster, she met Mada (Moilliet) Rendell and they became life long friends. It was through Mada that June was introduced to ‘CD’ Bill Osborn. They were married in Parksville in 1937 and resided in Lavington until Bill took on the role of General Manager of the Coldstream Ranch in 1953. They retired to their property in the Coldstream in 1976.

Always an active volunteer, June was a life member of the Vernon Riding Club, Girl Guides of Canada, Coldstream Women’s Institute and one of the founding members of Therapeutic Riding Assn., Pony Club and Lavington Ladies Work Group.

June was predeceased by Bill in 2000 and leaves to mourn her passing and to celebrate an amazing life well lived, four children: Bob (Maureen), Edmonton; Ted (Carolyn), Coldstream; Diane (Geza) Toth, Vernon; Peter (Cherry), Vernon; and friend and “daughter” Madeline Moilliet. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Josta Tryon and Ethel Tryon of Parksville; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and very special relatives and friends everywhere.

A celebration of June’s life will be held on Friday, May 7th at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity United Church, Vernon with Reverend Bob Thompson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, she would be delighted to be remembered with a donation to the North Okanagan Therapeutic Riding Assn., PO Box 328, Vernon V1T 6M6 OR the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506 – 27 Avenue, Vernon V1T 1S4.
