November 30, 1941 - October 25, 2021
In loving memory ~
With heavy hearts, we regret to announce the passing of Hans and Karen Bahr on October 25, 2021 in Osoyoos BC.
Born Helga Karin Duker on November 30, 1941 in Kassel, Germany to Karl and Anna Duker. Karen left Germany with her mother and brother by ship and arrived in Canada in June, 1950. She grew up in Airdrie and Calgary, AB.
Sweethearts and best friends, Hans and Karen were married in 1965. In 1975, they moved their 3 children to the Okanagan where Hans worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker and Karen raised their children. Once the children were older Karen opened a wine & beer making store as well as spent her last working decade as a secretary in a doctor's office. Hans and Karen loved spending time in nature, and travelling together in their RV. Unfortunately, Karen's breast cancer returned in 2017 and she spent the last four years doing quite well until this past year. The decline was quick over the summer and became too much for both to bear. May they both rest together, in peace.
Hans and Karen are predeceased by their parents and daughter, Wendy Price. Karen is also predeceased by her brother Edward Duker. Hans is survived by his two brothers, Volker (Shirley) and Eckardt (Annette) Bahr. Karen is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Duker. Both are survived by their sons Gary (Lynn) Bahr, Kevin (Rebekah) Bahr and grandsons Levi and Dustin Price and Mason Bahr.
At Karen's request, a celebration of life will occur at a later date.
