Karen Juneal Taylor-Wright (nee Schroeder) passed away quietly in the presence of her family March 22, 2012 at 9pm. A longtime sufferer of emphysema and COPD, Karen succembed to her illness comfortably. The family wishes to thank the staff at VJH for their service and compassion, and Dr. William Lemiski for years of exceptional, dedicated care.
Karen was a woman of intellect and passion, someone who sought out knowledge and shared it with others. She was a patient and loving Mother and a quality human being. Some of her favourite expressions reveal more about her than any tribute that could be paid: “Illegitimi non Carborundum.” “When people show you who they are, believe them.” “Continue to endeavor to persevere.”
Karen is survived by her sister Nancy, daughters Dawn and Diane, sons Alan, Michael and Brian, grandchildren Landyn, Terran, Ana-Marie, Jessica, Tyler, and great-grandchildren on the way. Karen was a very special person. She lived her life with dignity and intention. Mom’s great capacity for love reached well beyond the borders of her family, touching many lives. She had far too many “children and grandchildren” to list, in what she lovingly called her adopted family.
Karen had a strong spirit and was a great risk taker who lived life to the fullest. She always led by example and believed that one person can truly make a difference in the lives of others. Her very rich life, much of which was spent in the service of others, proved this out. She believed money didn’t matter as she was extremely rich in the love and respect of family and friends.
As per Karen’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Associaiton.
