Karen Veach


1947 – 2007

Following a brave battle with breast cancer, Karen Marion Veach (Bennie), at the age of 59, passed away peacefully at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Vernon, BC, Friday March 16th, 2007. Karen was born September 16th, 1947 and raised in Salmon Arm, BC and lived most of her life in the interior. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: David (Jeannine) Bennie of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Myrna (Paul) Harpnick of Sylvan Lake, Alberta and Duane Bennie of Vernon, BC. Her grandchildren: Lance and Caitlyn Bennie, Riley Pottie and Georgia Harpnick, and Samantha and Cassandra Bennie will affectionately remember her. Sisters: Carol Rhodes of Vernon, Ida Bourassa of Salmon Arm, Laura McMillan of Vernon; brother, Jim Veach of Vernon as well as many nieces and nephews further survive her. Family and friends were the love of Karen’s life. A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held Saturday, March 24th from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion, 3300 – 31st Avenue, Vernon, BC. The family wishes to thank those who cared for Karen with such kindness and compassion during her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Karen’s memory to Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, Cancer Centre, 2101 – 32nd Street, Vernon, BC V1T 5L2. Cremation and arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Alternative Funeral Services, #1, 4311 – 25th Avenue, Vernon, 558-0866.
