Katharina “Kay” Fladager passed away peacefully at Vernon Jubilee Hospital on Saturday, September 27, 2003, at the age of Seventy years. Kay will be deeply missed and always remembered by her husband and best friend Lionel “Curly” of Armstrong; children Valerie (Norm) Verbeek of Armstrong, Darrell (Carol) of Spokane, Wash., Rick (Kathy) of Abbotsford, Denise (Jim) Maundrell of Armstrong; grandchildren Lisa, Ryan, Brodie, Lindsay, Daniel, Caitlin and Brittany; great grandchildren Landyn, Teryn and Josh; sisters Emma (Les) Bush of Armstrong, Rose Klemm and Liz Pratchler both of Humbolt; brothers Joe (Mardy) Taphorn of Vancouver and John (Janie) Taphorn of Humbolt; extended family and many friends. Predeceased by her parents George and Agatha Taphorn; brothers George and Wally Taphorn and sister Agnes Angeli. Kay was born at St. Gregor, Saskatchewan, on March 23, 1933. Kay and Curly met in Edmonton where they resided before moving to Port Alberni in 1966 and settling in Armstrong in 1972. She loved life very much, being with family and friends, enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new places on the many trips her and Curly made through the years. She also enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, the Yukon, gardening and anything that would keep her in the sunshine. Kay always had a green thumb and it showed in everything she touched. We love you so much and you will be in our hearts forever. A Celebration of Life will be held at Green Valley Estates on Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at 12:00 noon. Following the tea interment will be held at Armstrong-Spallumcheen Cemetery. Arrangements and cremation in the care of Mountain View Funeral Home, 546-8294.
