November 9, 1922 - November 22, 2021
Katie passed away in the Kelowna General Hospital suddenly but peacefully on November 22nd, 2021. She had just enjoyed celebrating her 99th birthday on November 9th.
Katie was born in Manyberries, Alberta in 1922, moving to the Lavington area during the depression years where she met her husband Bill. They moved later to the Coldstream (Kalview Subdivision) in the early 1960s. Shortly after Bill's death in 1988 Kay moved to Ironwood complex where she remained until her passing. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret and Sophie and an infant brother.
Kay will always be lovingly remembered by her son, Art (Kathy) and her daughter, Dianne. She also leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; her one remaining sister, Polly; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and countless friends.
Kay will be remembered as a talented seamstress, tackling the most impossible sewing challenges. She also loved to make music and enjoyed many years playing with the "Happy Musicmakers" and entertaining in the many seniors' facilities around Vernon. Kay was a huge presence in her family's lives, always ready to feed them at a moment's notice. Many family feasts were enjoyed around her table. Kay will be greatly missed by all but in the last several months she said many times that it was time for her to "go Home."
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions, a small private family Graveside Service took place at the family plot in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Saturday, December 4th, 2021. A Memorial Service followed at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor David Hunter officiating.
