Bernice Kathleen Boss passed away in her sleep in Yellowknife Extended Care on March 2nd, 2005. She was predeceased by her parents Kathleen and Ross Heighton and her first husband James Thornton. She leaves to mourn her husband of 49 years Noland W. Boss of Yellowknife, 6 children, daughter Eileen (Guy) Erasmus, son Laurie of Yellowknife, son Murray (Cheryl) of Whitehorse, daughter Bridget (Peter) Paulette of Fort Smith, sons James (Mona) of Edmonton and Ian of Ontario, 15 grand-children, brother Ernie (Joan) Heighton of Armstrong, sisters Norma Jean (Toby) Nelson of Blind Bay, Sandra (Jerry) Reed of 16 Mile, sisters-in-law Violet Trudell of Chase, Jean Williamson of Armstrong and brother-in-law Raleigh Boss of Armstrong. Bernice was born in Trail, BC, lived at Fruitvale until 1944 then completed her schooling at Armstrong, later becoming a Floral Designer after moving north in the early 50’s. Volunteering for a wide variety of causes was a very active part of her life. She was well known for her culinary skills, especially her artistic wedding cakes. Upon Nolands retirement they returned to Armstrong where she was very active with the Armstrong Fair mainly in the Floral Division. When ill health prevailed Bernice and Noland again moved north in 1999 to be nearer her children. A Celebration of Life was held in Yellowknife on March 4th with burial in the Yellowknife Cemetery.
