The family of Katie (Nannie) Edwards sadly announces her passing at the age of 94 on Sunday, March 30, 2003, at the Vernon Hospice House. She was predeceased by husband Victor Edwards, Penticton: sister, Agatha Geiger, Russia; brother, George Krahn, Saskatoon; brother, Henry Epp, Leamington. She is survived by son Victor Edwards (Doreen), Kamloops; daughter Louise Collins, Vernon; grandsons, Todd Edwards (Yumi), Montreal, Trent Edwards (Stephanie), Victoria; granddaughters, Diana Janke (Harry) & great grandson Shea, of Burnaby; Dawn Collins (Brian), Cumberland; sisters, Mika Bergen and Helena Hipke, Paderborn, Germany; Anita Froese (Abe), Winnipeg; sister-in-law Antonia Krahn, Saskatoon; many nieces and nephews. Following the deaths of her parents, Katie came to Canada (Sk.) from Russia at the age of 15 with her young brother George and her new family (Epp), leaving behind her three sisters and all other family. She married Vic Edwards and spent her life in Saskatchewan, Penticton and Vernon spreading her love to the hearts of everyone she met, she was able in six different languages, as well, for her famous perogies, cabbage rolls, buns and crocheted afghans. The family gives heartfelt thanks to Dr. Doug Williams and the nursing staff on 3 West at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital for the excellent comforting care during her time with them. To the entire staff at Vernon’s Hospice House we thank you for the loving compassionate care given to Nannie and the family during the final week of her life’s journey. The family requests any memorials to Nannie be made to the Vernon and District Hospice House, 3506-27th Ave., Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4. A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date.
