Wong, Ken Ching
It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Ching Wong on October 3rd, 2014 in Vernon B.C. at the age of 85.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Guey Gin “Jean”; children: Don (Mei), Garry (Teresa), Beatrice (Alan), Jim (Sallie), and Brian (Lil); grandchildren: Melvin (Lavina), Christine (Brian), Teresa, Richard (Tam), Alyssa, Kenny, Lorien, Liam, Ethan, Kensington, Avery, Andrew, and Brennan; and his great granddaughter Anjali.
Ken was a longtime business owner and entrepreneur in the Vernon area. For a number of years, he served the community as the principle operator of King’s Restaurant on 30th Avenue. From there, he went on to establish the Vernon Aviaries, a bird farm that specialized in raising cockatiels, budgies, love birds, and canaries. The bird farm became one of his many passions in which he invested over twenty-five years. Ken then retired to spend more time with the family and pursue some of his hobbies, one of which was gardening. On his forty acres of land, he had many gardens of flowers and vegetables that he took great pride in and enjoyed sharing with his friends and family. Ken will be remembered for the love and respect that he shared with his family and friends and the special care and attentive service he provided during his time with King’s Restaurant and Vernon Aviaries.
There will be a funeral service in remembrance of Ken Wong at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, October 15th, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Noric House in Ken’s name.
Arrangements had been entrusted to Pleasant Valley Funeral Home, Phone: 250 542 4333.
