Kenneth William Bond

Kenneth William Bond was born July 3, 1924 in London,

England, passed away at Shuswap Lake General

Hospital on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. He grew

up in the small country town of Godalming, Surrey.

In 1942 he joined the British Royal Navy as a radio

operator and served in Belgium, France and Germany

until 1946 as part of the Allied army of occupation. In

1946 he met his wife Joan Kathleen Deyell a Canadian

from Millbrook, Ont., and on March 12, 1949 they

were married in London. In 1965 they moved to British

Columbia where Ken worked briefl y for the Vancouver

Sun before moving north to Quesnel and Prince George

then to Enderby in 1969 when Ken gained employment

with the Vernon Daily News.In 1982 Ken was called to

the ministry and he was ordained an Anglican priest in

1987. From 1986 to 1989 he served various churches

in the Kootenays then appointed Priest-in-Charge of

the Enderby-Armstrong Parish with protracted terms

serving in Revelstoke and Salmon Arm. Survived by

his son David (Susan) and his daughter Ann, Ken leaves

a grandson, Richard, and a granddaughter Samantha in

Edmonton along with two grandsons Kyle and Austin

in Nelson. He also leaves a number of brothers, sisters,

nieces and nephews in England and one in Scotland as

well as his step-mother, Elsie Ellenor in England. He is

also survived by his dear, dear friend Yvonne Hickman

of Deep Creek, B.C. Ken was predeceased by his wife,

Joan, Dec.1, 1998. mother Mary Elizabeth in 1940, his

father Bertie John in 1967, and his brother Dennis in

1998.

A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Thursday,

December 18, 2008, at St. John’s Anglican Church,

Salmon Arm, BC. Reverend Brian Smith offi ciating.
