Kenneth Frank Yates

In Loving Memory ~ It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Ken Yates in Vernon, BC on October 2, 2021.
Ken was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, moved to North Vancouver at an early age and finished school there. He later met his wife Evelyn in 1965 in Wainwright and then married in September 1965. He retired as the Director of Parks and Recreation in 2000 from the city of Abbotsford.
Ken had a love for rugby both as a player then later in various administrative capacities such as manager of Team BC, manager of the Canadian National Team and Secretary of the BC Rugby Union.
Ken and Evelyn loved to travel and during retirement enjoyed RV'ing and playing baseball in Arizona and later travelling to Mexico as snowbirds with their friends.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Evelyn Yates. He will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Shawna Bartels and Coralee Yates, son in laws Richard Bartels and Jim Brown and his two grandchildren Jaxon and Kyah.
Ken is loved and missed by his family and many close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Friday October 22, 2021 at 1 pm. Due to Public Health Authority Covid 19 restrictions we will be limited to 50 people indoors.
Social distancing and masks will be required.
