Dad was reunited with his soulmate Florence after both completed their fulfilling work on this earth. Dad was the last member of McFarland homesteaders in Saskatchewan.
Predeceased by brother Bud, sisters Beth, Shirley and Mildred, wife Florence (2013), daughter Beverlee (2010). They leave behind their legacy to son Dennis/Pat of Coldstream and their "shining stars," granddaughters Michelle, Jacqueline, Angie and Terri, grandson Sean, great grandchildren Josh, Olivia, Grant and Michael, and son Darcy/Margaret of Enderby.
Dad and Mom influenced and shaped the lives of three generations. Dad was born and raised on the Drake, Sask., homestead and attend the Bloomfield country school. He helped on the farm and at 17 headed east to work in the factories during winter for various war causes. He returned in the spring and, as the only son still residing, farmed for the war cause on the home front.
Dad met Mom at the Cameo Cafe in Watrous (still in operation). Both were great dancers and spent weekends at the infamous DanceLand at Manitou Beach.
After a two-year courtship, they married in 1945 and farmed the homestead with horses and started a family.
Both were active in the Drake community, participating in curling, square dancing, and all the social events. To pass the winter, Dad worked at Ingham's Ind., welding frames for snow sleds called Ski-Bees. Both were active in the Masonic Order, as worshipful master and grand matron.
In 1973, after 30 years of farming, they moved to Coldstream and started a new career, co-owning CJV the Carpet People. Dad installed flooring in nearly every school, the Schubert Centre, Village Green Mall, courthouse, and thousands of homes. Both kept active, gardening, curling, travelling, and Dad in the Shriners, where he was captain of the famous Shrine Mini Cars.
Dad loved when the grandkids had sleepovers so he could watch Bugs Bunny cartoons in the morning. He loved fishing, whether on the ocean with Darcy or Northern Manitoba with Dennis, and on many BC Lakes.
Mom and Dad hosted many large family gatherings and never missed an event, no matter where in the country. In 2011, they moved into Carrington Place, Both are dearly missed, but will never be forgotten in our hearts. You'll always be remembered as "grandpoose" and "grandmoose," as well as Dad's many one-liners.

A private graveside service will be held at the Coldstream Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vernon Hospice or Shriners Children's Hospital.
