On July 20th, 2014, our beloved Ken lost his battle with cancer. He was a best friend, a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and son. He was a good neighbour – always willing to lend a helping hand. Ken was never one to complain, even on those days he felt most ill. He was a gentle man and a gentleman.
Ken loved thunderstorms; the fresh smell of earth and air after a rain; the crackle of a campfire under the stars; rides on the motorbike or quad with his wife Gail – the love of his life and his soul mate. He enjoyed spending time in this workshop, puttering on a project, and he was always intrigued by tools and gadgets – he always had one gadget or another hanging from the belt loop on his jeans. Ken loved to kayak and was always in awe of the ways of nature. He loved his pets as he loved every member of his family. Ken – Patti and Charlie miss you. Doughnuts and poutines were his favourite food group.
Ken gave hugs like no one else ever could or ever will again. He was kind, compassionate, forgiving – and when he loved you – whether you were family or friend or critter – he loved you unconditionally, every day.
Ken, we all love you so very much and we miss you so much it hurts. You will remain forever in our hearts and we know you are with us always.
Ken leaves to mourn, his wife, Gail; his children, Lori (Les) and Kevin (Robyn); his step-daughter, Jocelyn (Darren); his grandchildren, Rebecca, Kayden, Tristin, Andrew, Keegan and Ethan; his mother, Mickey; his step-father, Carl; Sara, Steven, Christine and Bruce. Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Skip; and his father, Mick.
In respecting Ken’s wishes, he was cremated and there will be no funeral service held. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Ken to the North Okanagan Hospice Society, 3506-27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S4; to the local Animal Care Society; or to the local SPCA.
At this time, I, Ken’s soul mate, wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Arnold for your compassion and dedication. Patti, Donna, Joanne – thank you for your patience and understanding.
