December 11, 1946 - February 5, 2025

In loving memory ~

George was born on December 11th, 1946 in Potsdam Berlin, Germany and he passed away on February 5th, 2025 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 78 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sandy, to whom he was married for 45 years.

George, together with his parents, left Germany in 1952 to begin a new life in Canada. They settled in Vernon and George received his early education at Beairsto Elementary School. After only a couple of years of being here the family moved around but eventually ended up in Vancouver where George completed his High School education. After graduation, George chose a career in sales, first being employed with Vancouver Fancy Meats and later I.D. Foods in Vancouver. In 1979 George married the love of his life, Sandra Bishop in Burnaby and in 1986 they moved to Vernon where he continued to work for I.D. Foods until his retirement. George was an avid fly fisherman, skier and golfer and was a former long time member of the Spallumcheen Golf & Country Club.

George was an only child and was preceded in death by his father, Raimund Schimanski in 1985; his mother, Dorothy Schimanski in 2009; and his grandmother, Ottilie Schimanski in 1995.

In respecting George's wishes, he was cremated and there will be no service held. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of George to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation (designated for the Imaging Department), 2101-32nd Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 5L2.
