Laura Winifred Mary Scott
was born on April 12th, 1921 in Edmonton, Alberta and passed away peacefully on June 17th, 2011 in Vernon, B.C. at the age of 90 years. Laura will be lovingly remembered by her three children; Norma (Steve) Schaffer of Salmon Arm, B.C., Win Burge of Vernon, B.C. and Andy Scott of Jade City, B.C., her grandchildren; Christine (Bryan) Desnoyer and Michael (Hillary) Burge, her great-grandchildren; Olivia, Abigail and Tobias Burge, her sister; Iris Cousineau of Kelowna, B.C. as well as numerous extended family members and friends. Laura was preceded in death by her husband; Andrew in 1992.
Laura lived most of her life in Vancouver, moving to Vernon in her later years to be close to her family. Mom will be remembered with love for her courage and quiet faith. Her life was not always easy but she rarely complained; she adapted and continued to “carry on”. As long as she was able, her hands were busy with knitting, crocheting and crafts. Her favorite game was Scrabble, and many an afternoon was spent over the board with a cup of tea in hand.
Cremation preceded a Celebration of Laura’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, July 12th, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. Laura will be interred beside her husband in Vancouver, B.C. at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Laura to World Vision, 2500 1 World Drive, Mississauga, Ontario L5T 2Y4 or to your local SPCA.
