Lawrence (Larry) passed away at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital July 9, 2007 at the age of 90. He was predeceased by his loving wife Betty in 2004. Larry is survived by his daughter Colleen, three grandchildren Larry (Tammie), Barb (Leigh), and Shannon (Dwayne); six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Larry was born in Kamsack, Sask. into a railroad family. They moved to Edson, Alberta & then finally settled in Jasper, Alberta. He met & married Betty there. They moved to Luscar, Alberta where he worked in the coal mine for five years. They returned to Jasper, becoming partners in a Guide & outfitting business. Later Larry joined the National Park Service, residing in beautiful Maligne Lake for many years. They later transferred to Waterton Lakes Park, Prince Albert Park, Sask., Cape Breton Island Park, Nova Scotia, returning West to Revelstoke Glacier Park, B.C. They returned to Vernon 30 years ago. From their life here and across Canada they acquired many wonderful and long-term friends. Larry had great stories to tell which we all enjoyed. After the sudden loss of Betty, his wife of 64 years, Larry struggled on almost three more years. Many thanks to Nat, Ann and Denyse for helping to fill the void.
