Leigh Martin Perry of Kelowna BC passed away late Sunday evening August 20 at home with his partner, Bev Dahl, by his side.
Leigh was born a triplet in Abergavenny, Wales on August 6, 1939 and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1948.
Leigh is survived and will be missed by his three sons Dhugael, Drew (Jodi) and their son Carson, Neil (Rose) and their daughters Hailey and Kyla. He is also survived by his brother Keith (Rita) and his sister Christine (Ray) Sheen, the other “trips”, and his sisters Lenore Bateman, Carol Campbell, Patti (Artell) Hepworth. He will also be fondly remembered by Bev’s daughter Kendra (Ryan) Molitwenik and their sons Jacob and Ben as well as numerous nieces and nephews who had a great love for their uncle. Leigh was predeceased by his parents, Bert and Muriel Perry, his sister Meryl, and brothers-in-law Larry Bateman and Ron Campbell.
Leigh’s first language was music. Musicians and music lovers throughout the valley will remember him as a bass player in various jazz bands over the years. He was an active member of the Powerhouse Theater for some time in all facets but mainly remembered as the club photographer. His occupations and hobbies allowed him the opportunity to touch the lives of many people in a positive way throughout his life. He leaves a rich legacy of friendships.
Leigh will also be remembered for his
contribution to the creation of the BC
Transit Handi–Dart, now used province wide.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, September 2nd in Vernon at the Powerhouse Theater at 2:00pm. Followed by a jam session. Musicians who wish to participate are encouraged to bring their instruments.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Leigh’s memory to the Lung Association of BC or the Kelowna Hospice Society.
