Aviator, kayaker, skier, a man who did things his own way. who often flouted convention and authority, 69-year-old Leslie A. Holmes of Westbank, B.C. died very unexpectedly at home on 20th March 2009.
Family and friends will greatly miss this caring man; a man with a practical approach to life and a readiness to help figure out any problem; a man with an artistic flair and great verbal wit; a man who personified integrity. A lover of the outdoors, Leslie derived enormous contentment from being in quiet uncrowded places where he could hear birds sing, watch a river flow, or feel a breeze in his beard.
Leslie is survived by his wife of 45 years – Beverley, daughter Karen (Jonathan), 3-year-old granddaughter Meghan, four sisters and a number of nieces and nephews in England, and many many of us who feel privileged to have called him “Friend”.
A celebration of Leslie’s life will be held at the Kelowna Flying Club, 6135 Airport Way at Kelowna airport, at 2:00 pm on Sunday 5th April 2009.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grasslands Conservation Council of BC.
