LEWIS, Lila Maud
February 4th, 1915 – January 1st, 2009
Lila passed away peacefully at the Vernon Hospice House
on January 1st, 2009 at the age of 93 years.
She is survived by her loving children: Jeanette, Ken,
Jim, Margaret and Arlene; sisters, Ruth, Alma and Milly,
eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren
and three great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family
and friends. Lila was predeceased by husbands, James Curley and Jack Lewis; son,
David; parents, Albert and Mabel Ellen Webber; sisters, Leena, Ruby and Mary;
brothers, Norman, Harvey, Albert, Clarence and James.
Lila and her husband, Jim, raised her family in Vernon until 1965. That same year,
Jim passed away and Lila remained as a single parent. She then moved to Quesnel
at the age of 71 and married an old family friend, Jack Lewis. She returned to
Vernon in October 2008, after the passing of her husband, Jack, and resided at
Coldstream Meadows. Lila had a long rewarding membership with the Rebekah
Assembly of British Columbia and worked with the Assembly throughout her adult
life.
Lila spent many years as a single mother and is loved deeply for the care and
support she provided her children and all those she came in contact with. She will
always be remembered for her warm and caring personality.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Trinity United Church at 2:00 p.m. on
Saturday, January 10th, 2009. Following this service, family and friends will gather
for a reception in the church hall.
Cremation at Lila’s request. A private family graveside service will be held this
Spring.
In lieu of fl owers, those friends wishing to make memorial contributions in memory
of Lila may do so to the Vernon Hospice House or Dunrovin Park Lodge in Quesnel,
B.C.
