Born November 3rd, 1928 in Saskatchewan, Lila
Fern Makarenko, with her loving family by her side,
passed away at the age of 79 years in Vernon, B.C.
August 4th, 2008. Fern will be deeply and forever
missed by her loving husband George to whom she
was married for 58 years; daughters Janis, Bonnie
(Peter) Rook and one granddaughter Crystal Huls.
Further surviving her is a number of sisters-in-law,
brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was
predeceased by her daughter Joanne Makarenko,
brother William Linklater and sister Pearl Linklater.
Fern loved to laugh, dance, play cards, entertain
with gourmet cooking, golf and travel. She was a
caring, loving and giving person and known for her
hard work and determination. Fern was involved
with Rotary, Vernon Winter Carnival Committee,
a 40 year member of the Gyrettes and a Realtor
for a number of years. There will be no service by
request. A family gathering will take place at a later
date. In lieu of flfl owers, those wishing to do so may
make a memorial donation in Fern’s memory to the
Alzheimer’s Society, #102, 3402 – 27th Avenue,
Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S1.
