July 14, 1929 - October 21, 2021
Wilma Taylor, the loving wife of John Taylor, passed away peacefully on October 21st, 2021 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital at the age of 92 years. She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on July 14th, 1929 to William and Lila Harrison. Wilma came from a large family and was one of six sisters.
She moved to Vancouver, B.C. in 1956 with the hopes of joining the Navy, as she loved the sea. As fate would have it, she instead met John, who wanted to go to Australia but missed the ship. They met at a social at Christ Church Cathedral, with a group of young church goers. They fell in love and settled in Burnaby, B.C. where they raised their daughter and son, Janette King and Mike Taylor, and eventually their granddaughter, Emma Taylor came along.
Wilma's family are all extremely sad at her passing and feel her loss keenly. Wilma worked on and off part-time, and was a talented painter whose medium was oils, though she often sketched.
Upon her and John's retirement they moved to Vernon, B.C. where they enjoyed playing bridge and lawn bowling. They loved Vernon and made good friends there. They also went on more than thirty cruises to add to the fun adventures of their life together. Wilma will be deeply missed by all who loved her. In respecting Wilma's wishes, she was cremated and no funeral service will be held.
Cremation arrangements have been made with Bethel Funeral Chapel Ltd., 5605 27th Street, Vernon, B.C. V1T 8Z5
