Lily (Mickey) Miller
Lily (Mickey) Miller was born on February 21, 1928 in Chipman, Alberta, and passed away on November 29, 2012 in Vernon, BC. Predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Marcel (2010), she is survived by her children: Gregory, Bradley, Morley (Alison), and Coleen (Stephen), and grandchildren: Lynsey, Michael, Janelle, and Jennifer, and her sister Elsie (Clare).
Mickey grew up in East Vancouver and married Marcel in 1946 when he returned from the Royal Canadian Navy after WW2. They lived in Marcel’s home town of East Coulee, Alberta, until moving to Prince George in 1952. Mickey worked at the local RCMP detachment for 16 years and housed many young recruits. She retired in 1991 and was honored as being part of the RCMP family for providing care, wisdom and guidance to rookie policemen in Prince George. To this day, many consider Mickey as a second Mom.
Mickey loved to entertain and was renowned for her cooking, baking, fine dinners and hospitality. She felt blessed to have so many good friends and wonderful neighbors at Sandpiper. A heartfelt thank you from the family to all her friends that came to show their love, support and care for Mom during her brief illness.
Special thanks to Dr. Coetzer and Dr. Barnard as well as Interior Health Home Support Services for their excellent care. Thank you to the Vernon Hospice House, all the staff and volunteers for their wonderful and compassionate care.
Mickey will be reunited with Marcel at a brief graveside service at St. Nicholas’ Cemetery on December 7, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a celebration of her life at the Sandpiper clubhouse in Vernon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vernon Hospice House.
Arrangements are in the care of Vernon Funeral Home 250-542-0155.
