LOIS GENDRON

Lois Gendron

March 7th, 1928 – August 25th, 2013

Nana passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family early Sunday morning. She was born in Sudbury, Ontario in 1928, married Louis in 1943 and moved to British Columbia in 1950. Mom was very active in all of her kids’ activities including P.T.A., Cubs and Scouts, Baseball, Cadets, and any community group that needed her. She was a practical nurse, worked at the CNRE Credit Union and was a librarian at St. Thomas More High School. Her love of politics landed her the job of Returning Officer for three elections in the Surrey Riding which at the time was the largest in the province. The Catholic Church was always a big part of her life including the C.W.L. and the Pro Life Society. Mom was very involved with the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog Program. She and her faithful companion Bailey visited patients in both Gateby and the hospital. She was a very active volunteer in the Vernon M.S. Society. Nana could also be seen each year proudly marching in the Cancer Relay for Life in her yellow survivor shirt. This year would have marked 20 years survival.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband Louis and has five surviving sons, Angus (Linda), Garth (Wanda), Rene (Darlene), Dennis (Linda) and Gene (Karen); ten grandchildren, Karalee (Matthew), Korey, Roger, Owen, Pauline (Brad), Michelle (Travis), Monique (Jeff), Samantha, Cassidy and Cody; two great-grandchildren, Kalista and Charlotte; one sister, Dorothy Felton; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Cremation preceded a Prayer Vigil Service which will be held for our Mom and Nana on Wednesday, August 28th, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass in her honor will follow on Thursday, August 29th, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., both being held at St. James Catholic Church with Reverend Father Dale Normandeau celebrant. A Reception will follow the Mass in the St. James Parish Centre.

A very special thank you to Dr. Raupach and Dr. Lavoie who took such excellent care of Mom.

As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so may send donations in memory of Lois to the M.S. Society of Canada, Okanagan Chapter, #105-3402-27th Avenue, Vernon, B.C. V1T 1S1
