In Loving Memory ~
On Saturday October 1, 2022 Lorna Bernice Finstad (nee Rogers) was called home to Heaven. Lorna was born on September 3, 1926 at the Lucky Lake Hospital in Lucky Lake Saskatchewan. She was the first born of six children (Rosella, Berdette, Dorothy, Ruby and brother Dennis) to Myrtle and Ray Rogers.
Lorna's early years were spent on their farm in Demaine Saskatchewan. She often shared fond memories of getting to school via horse and buggy.
In 1940 the family packed up and headed west by train to Surrey BC. She graduated High School in 1945 with her sister and best friend Rosella. After graduation Lorna took a Sewing and Tailoring course at the Academy of Useful Arts in Vancouver and worked as a seamstress.
In 1946 Lorna met her loving husband RCAF vet Harry Milan Finstad. They married on Feb 5, 1949. Together they had three sons, Kenneth Wayne (Joan); Gary Michael (Brenda); Randy Milan (Sharon).
In 1961 the family moved to Armstrong BC. They spent many years working side by side on their small farm on Young Rd "raising three boys and vegetables". Lorna often said her favorite time of life was when her boys were teenagers, saying "they were fun to be with and work with".
Harry passed away on Nov 11, 1998; just a few months shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Lorna's great joy in life were her children and grandchildren. She and Milan prayed daily over their family, especially their grandchildren Wayne, Derek (Tracie), Trevor (Kim), Greg (Alison), Jay (Cherelle), Kyle (Stephanie), Karina (Kevin), Chad (Jocelyn), Promise and 15 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Hospital Auxiliary (thrift store) in Armstrong where Lorna volunteered for 20 years.
All are invited to attend a celebration of a life well lived, to be held Saturday October 22, 2022 at 1:00 pm at her home church of 61 years:
