It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorna Marie Schmidt on May 5th, 2019 at Heron Grove.
Mom was born on June 17th, 1933 in Perdue, Saskatchewan and soon afterwards found herself moving to BC with her parents. She grew up in Burnaby where she enjoyed riding her bike, roller- skating and later working as a telephone operator for BC Tel. Mom married Menno Schmidt on April 17th, 1954 and they lived in Surrey until later moving to Vernon. Lorna enjoyed her Red Hats group, family gatherings, travelling and homemaking.
Lorna's memory will be forever cherished by her youngest brother, Wes Colbert (Lynn); two daughters, Marjorie Schmidt (Wolfgang) and Joann Gilmore (Terry); eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Marjorie Colbert; her husband, Menno Schmidt; one brother, Stanley Colbert; and her youngest daughter, Carol Gerling. Mom will be greatly missed by all of our family.
In respecting Mom' wishes, she was cremated and there will be no service held.
