It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce on March 14, 2013 Lorraine Lozeau, Mother Claire of the Blessed Sacrament and the Immaculate Heart OCD passed away peacefully at the Monastery. Lorraine was the 8th child of 11, born in St. Paul, Alberta and raised in the tiny hamlet of St. Lina, AB. Most of the population there was of French Canadian descent. Lorraine entered the Carmelite Monastery in Kitchener Ontario on November 24, 1955 she was the first Canadian member to make Solemn Profession on August 22, 1960. On August 15, 1991 Lorraine left with two other Sisters to begin the Foundation in Armstrong, BC. She loved the outdoors and contemplated God in the beauty of his creation. Lorraine was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Alida Lozeau; brother Armand Lozeau (died at 12 days of age), sister & brother in law Germaine & Remus Lafond, sister & brother in law Laurette & Aime Michaud, sister and brother in law Bella & Camille Boutin; and brother & sister in law Maurice & Monique Lozeau and by brother in law Henry Michaud, and sister in law Beth Lozeau. Lorraine will be greatly missed and is survived by her sisters Juliette Michaud (North Vancouver, BC) and Claire (Joe) Ouellette (St. Lina, AB), brothers Victor Lozeau (Glendon, AB), Richmond (Lorraine) Lozeau (Lac La Hache, BC) and Camille (Alice) Lozeau (Gibbons, AB) and many nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass was held at 11:00am on Tuesday March 14, 2013 at the Monastery Chapel with Bishop David Munroe as Celebrant. Vigil Prayers were held Monday March 13, 2013 at 7:00pm. Memorial donations may be made to: Carmel of St. Joseph (4815 Salmon River Road, Armstrong B.C. V0E 1B4).
