Lu - our Mom, Gramma and Nana passed away peacefully on September 6, 2021 at the age of 94.
She will be truly missed by her children Dorie (Hagen) Klose, Roni Anderson and Kim (Sherri) Plumridge, 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends. Mom was predeceased by Jim, her husband of 68 years, and her grandson Derek Klose.
Mom was the only child born to Julienne and Joseph Garnier. Her family left Winnipeg to live throughout the Kootenays before settling in Vancouver where she became a hairdresser and music teacher. In 1947 Lu and Jim married and moved to Sechelt to raise their children and in 1964 they purchased an acreage on the Old Kamloops Road and raised Appaloosa horses.
Lu's first passion was music, teaching accordion and guitar and later on was involved with numerous bands - George and Friends and Side by Side to name a few. As well, she was a member of Eastern Star, the Accordion Club and was a dedicated volunteer and member of Schubert Centre, Halina and the Hospital Auxiliary.
Besides her love for her family she enjoyed horseback riding, square dancing, camping, travelling, painting and playing cards with friends. She took great pleasure in beating us in a game of Crib and Scrabble - no mercy! Mom - we will miss your energy, your hugs and that sparkle in your eyes.
At Lu's request a family gathering will be held at a later date.
Our family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the amazing Dr. Murphy, the staff at Creekside Landing - Assisted Living as well as the compassionate and caring staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital 2 West.
