July 18, 1938 - January 30, 2022
In the early morning hours of Sunday, January 30th, 2022, Lucy Mann was called Home to be with her Lord where she entered into eternal rest at the age of 83 years.
Lucy was born on July 18th, 1938 in Karolew, Poland.
She immigrated to Canada with her parents, Gustav and Ottilia and brother Richard and they settled on a farm in Lavington, B.C. Lucy met Fred Mann in 1955 and in 1956 she was married to him, the true love of her life. They had enjoyed 51 years of marriage when Fred passed away on December 7th, 2007. Lucy was also preceded in death by both of her parents and her brother.
Lucy was a devoted, selfless and kind hearted Christian woman.
She was particularly known for being a highly committed and dedicated Church volunteer with a strong spiritual service record and an extraordinary work ethic. As well, Lucy was known to have volunteered for many years with the Canadian Red Cross and the Meals on Wheels program here in Vernon.
Lucy greatly enjoyed spending time working in her vast gardens that were filled with both flowers and vegetables and she loved to freely share with everyone the fruits of her labours.
Over the years Fred and Lucy were well known for hosting large celebrations of all types at their home. While Fred was the master of ceremonies, Lucy was the architect and with meticulous planning and the flair of a chef, together they would create an enjoyable event for all.
Lucy was always more than happy to be the central figure in the lives of her children, Bob and Anna-Marie (Daryl), and her grandchildren Cody (Candace), great-granddaughter Brooke, and Cierra (William). Anyone who knows them, were well aware that she was the star in their eyes, and that's all that ever mattered to Lucy.
We, Lucy`s family would like to make special mention of a few people who deserve recognition. Thank you to Dr. Michael Murphy for giving the utmost care and attention, and with an uncompromising bedside manner that was greatly appreciated by Lucy and her family; and to Amanda and her wonderful professional care-givers at Hearthstone Manor for all the love and kindness they showed to Lucy during the past few months of her life.
A Private Graveside Service was held at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery on Monday, February 7th, 2022 at 11 am with Pastor Craig Tufts officiating. As an expression of sympathy, those who wish to do so many send donations in memory of Lucy to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation, 2101-32nd Street, Vernon, B.C.
