It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Luther (Lou) Krusel in Vernon, BC on Nov 2, 2019.
Lou was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan to August and Julianna Krusel. The family moved to Vernon four years later and settled in Coldstream to farm. Lou left home with his brother to work in the forest industry until he met the love of his life, Dodie Kilborn, and in 1955 began a love affair that was never extinguished. They raised three children in the lower mainland and in 1971 returned to Vernon where they spent the rest of their years. Lou built their home in the Landing, worked various construction jobs until he was hired as a building inspector at RDNO until his retirement. Lou was also a charter member of the Okanagan Landing Fire Dept and served his community through it. Lou was always well loved by family, friends and neighbors. Lou and Dodie lived in the family home until retirement and relocated to Desert Cove until his love fell ill and necessitated a move back to town and eventually to Heron Grove, where she passed away in 2105. Lou lived out his life in care at Heron Grove and the family is forever grateful to the caring staff there, along with his doctor George Borchert.
Lou was predeceased by his parents, brothers Ernie, Art, Sig and Henry and his sister Tillie.
Lou leaves behind his son Bruce (Kristina), daughters Brenda Hautaluoma (John) and Tracy Hayward (Ron), grandsons Arek and Kevan, granddaughters April, Aubree, Chanel and Madison along with his sisters Evelyn, Dolores, Lenora and Lorraine, brother Bill, sister in law Patti and brother in law Ken, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Lou loved his family and his memory will be cherished by all.
A celebration of Life will be held in the spring with a date to be announced.
