MABEL MILDRED SMITH, aged 75, passed away Friday, January 31, 2003, in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital, Vernon, B.C. Born Friday, February 25, 1927, in Cawston, B.C., Mabel spent her early years around horses and ranches. Later she developed a love for gardening, canning, outdoor activities, including fishing. She was involved in the Fish and Game Club of Armstrong and made attendance at the Omak Stampede, Washington, an annual event. She was an extremely hard worker, superb homemaker and a strong-minded woman who believed in simple living. Mabel is survived by her loving family: John Bauer, husband of thirty years; seven children, Eddie, Kenny (Sheila), Anita, Willie, Ben (Cindy), Wayne (Angela), Brenda (Bob); twenty grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters Josie, June, Shirley (Bob); three brothers Frank (Mae), Bill (Jean), Ken (Shirley); and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by: parents, John and Sarah Richter; two daughters, Donna and Connie; brothers Edward, John; sisters May, Evelyn. A Celebration of Mabel’s Life was held Sunday, February 2, 2003, at John and Mabel’s home in Armstrong. Cremation. Messages of sympathy may be sent to email@example.com.
