The Koenig family regrets to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother and great grandmother Madeline Koenig, aged 83 years. Madeline passed away peacefully at Shuswap Lake General Hospital
on Tuesday, January 17, 2006. She will be lovingly remembered by four sons Don (Jan) of Calgary, Fred (Gail) of Enderby, Ed (Diane) of Vernon and Pat (Shirley) of Vernon; three daughters Jean Koenig of Enderby, Denise (Fred) Green of Salmon Arm and Annette (Mark) Simons of Enderby; sixteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; sister and best friend Pauline; four brothers Jim, Matt, Peter and Simon Kratchmer; many friends and extended family. Predeceased by husband Clement in 1998, baby daughter Audrey in 1959, parents Joseph and Mary Kratchmer and two brothers Adam and Leo. Madeline was born on December 11, 1922, at Unity, Saskatchewan. She was raised in Reward, Saskatchewan, and lived there until moving to Grindrod in 1957, where she and Clement farmed. They then operated the Horse Shoe Motel in Enderby until retiring in 1987. Madeline also worked as housekeeper at the hospital from 1972 to 1984. She loved spending time with her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Active in St. Ann’s Catholic Church, with the CWL and Enderby Seniors Complex, Madeline also enjoyed cards (especially bridge), bingo, travelling, gardening, quilting, canning and cooking. Prayers will be recited 7:30 p.m., Friday, January 20. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Enderby. Reverend Father Leo Boyd, O.M.I. Celebrant. Interment in family plot of Cliffside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
