With her family at her side, Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Madge Fischer passed away peacefully in Vernon, BC on September 01, 2004, at the age of 91 years. Born June 25, 1913 at Midale, Saskatchewan, she was one of 10 siblings. She married Frederick Fischer in 1935 and together they bore four children; an infant son in 1936, Marlene in 1943, and twins, Louise and Lamar in 1946. They lived in Estevan from 1946 until her husband passed away in 1987. Together they loved to dance and were members of the Saskatchewan Power Social Club. Madge was a homemaker who always kept her hands busy. For many years she volunteered her time and talent to the Elks Club and Estevan 60 & Over Club, preparing & serving meals. In 1993 she moved to be near her daughter in Outlook, SK and a few years later to be near her son in Sorrento, BC. In 2003, at the age of 89 she made her last move to be near her Granddaughter and Great Granddaughter in Vernon, BC. She is well remembered for her passion of crafts and canning; quilting and sewing, crocheting and feather stitching. Just 3 short weeks ago she finished 60 lbs of cukes, and 40 lbs of raspberries and her prized celery relish. Outside of the kitchen, she was socially active as an avid card player; part of a weekly Bridge Club and with family, she played Canasta. She was very proud of claiming 3 “Grand Slams” in recent years at Bridge tables in the Shuswap and in Vernon. Other weekly activities included Bingo and Horse Racing. Special memories that Madge held dearly were family times at Carlyle & Kenosee Lakes, being present for the arrival of each grandchild, making “leftsa” for the grandchildren and her recent trip to Victoria.

Madge is predeceased by her parents, Olaf & Ragnhild Grinstad; her husband of 52 years, Frederick Fischer; one infant son; one infant sister, three brothers, Odin Asplund, Hawkin Grinstad and Olaf Grinstad, four sisters, Laura Monson, Mary Pearson, Signa Barker and Julia Johnson.

Madge is survived by her three children, Marlene Esper, Laguna Beach, CA, Louise Bassendowski (Mel), Dawson Creek, BC, Lamar Fischer (Cindy), Edmonton, AB; one sister, Ruth Pederson (Harold), five Grandchildren, Christopher (Marcia) Esper, Anastasia Esper, Leah Podollan (David), Brent Fischer and Shawn Caswell (Serena) and 3 Great Grandchildren, Victoria & Daxton Podollan and Tristan Fischer; numerous nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
