Margaret B. Taylor

February 23rd 1909 – January 5th 2009

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Taylor on January 5th, 2009. She was predeceased by Bernard, her husband of fifty-seven years. She is survived by her brother, Bud Godfrey, and her two daughters Joan Hawkins and Eleanor Johnson. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Joel (Carol), Wendy (Grant), Carrie (Rob), Leah (Wayne), Mark (Tanya), Doug and Brent (Kimiko), and seventeen great-grandchildren. Her secret to a long life was her positive attitude, sense of humor and thorough enjoyment of family and friends.

Margaret was born in Vancouver and enjoyed her short career as a teacher of new Canadians, briefly teaching at an open air school. She loved gardening, sewing, knitting and crafts. Margaret was an enthusiastic member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) for sixty years, and served as the BC Provincial President. She was also a faithful member of Knox United Church for fifty years.

Margaret illuminated many lives, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on Saturday, January 17th, at 1:00 PM at Knox United Church, with Dr Darryl Auten officiating, 5600 Balaclava Street, Vancouver, BC, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Program for Continuing Education via Chapter AE P.E.O. Sisterhood, contact Sheri Gutteridge, 4390 Skyline Drive, North Vancouver, BC, V7R 3G7
