Margaret Ellen Redman passed away peacefully at Noric House on Thursday, December 31, 2009, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Ellen was born in Maidstone, Saskatchewan on November 8, 1941.
She is survived by her loving husband Gordon of Armstrong; three children Kelly (Arlene) Soule of Red Deer, Ab; Darin (Christina) Soule of Calgary, Ab. And Ce Ce Soule of Vernon; two step-daughters Heather (Rick) Drydyk of Grindrod and Bonnie Redman of Kelowna; two brothers Howie (Jane) Gilchrist of Stony Plain, Ab. And Alfred (Evelyn) Gilchrist of Mississauga, On; one sister Josephine (Karl) Holba of Hinton, Ab and one sister-in-law Margaret Redman of Salmon Arm. Ellen also leaves behind four grandsons and nine granddaughters.
Ellen was employed by Eaton’s of Canada for 39 years. She was a Commissioned Officer in the Reserves, serving both Air and Sea Elements. She was the proud recipient of the “Canadian Decoration” (good, faithful and long service)
Ellen was very active in sports, a catcher in softball, played all positions in curling, cross country skiing and a great golfer. She also loved gardening.
The family would like to thank the staff at Noric House for the compassionate care shown to Ellen over the past six years.
A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2009, at the Chapel of Personal Alternative Funeral Services. Reverend Ted Roworth officiating. Reception to follow. The cremated remains will be interred in family plot of Salmon Arm Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
