Margaret Novakowski was born on June 4th, 1930 in Brandon, Manitoba and was called Home to be with her Lord on July 7th, 2016 at the age of 86 years. Her final days were spent in the North Okanagan Hospice House and she passed away peacefully with her devoted family surrounding her bedside.

Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her husband Paul, to whom she was married for 67 years; her children, Eileen (Arnis) Veideman, David (Zena) Novakowski, Diane (Glen) Taylor and Dale (Angie) Novakowski; seven grandchildren, Lisa (Eric), Kevin (Kristi), Jennifer (Tom), Adrian (Heather), Heather (Jonathan), Sean and Ryan (Michelle); six great-grandchildren, Sierra, Ella, Riley, Lincoln, Mason and Hailey; and her nieces, nephews and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Larionyk; her step-father, Steve Dorosh; her father, John Galawan; her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Martin Manske; and her niece, Sandy Manske.

Margaret’s life was devoted entirely to her family and she was a strong, silent woman who loved those around her deeply, always seeing the best in others and never complaining, no matter how many challenges with health issues she faced. She was blessed with the wonderful gift of hospitality and her home was always open to family and friends alike. Margaret would often be found busy in her kitchen canning, baking and preparing delicious meals for all to enjoy. When the table was set and the food served, she always made sure that everyone was well fed and no one left the table hungry. Margaret and Paul loved to travel to various locations in their motor home where they could be found enjoying great times camping together.

Cremation preceded a Celebration Of Margaret’s Life which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Friday, July 15th, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. with Deacon Paul Murphy officiating. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.

We, Margaret’s family want to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Lindsay Pritchett, the numerous care-givers from Interior Health who helped Margaret while still at home, and the nurses and staff at Hospice House for the wonderful, loving care you all gave to her during the final months of her life. You all have been an incredible blessing to our family and we will be forever grateful. There indeed are “angels among us, sent down to us, from somewhere up above!”
