In Loving Memory of
MARGARET (Marg) RICHARD
It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce the passing of Margaret Richard, 77, Sunday, November 25th, 2012 in Vernon, B.C.
Marg was a bright spark in our lives, who always had a twinkle in her clear blue eyes, a smile on her face, and a quick, humorous approach to life. She had a love of good home-cooked food and cherished the importance of family, entertaining both family and friends, and she especially loved taking care of her grandchildren. When her grandchildren were younger she volunteered at Beairsto and Okanagan Landing Schools. Marg loved “garage sailing” and thrift store treasure hunting. She particularly enjoyed being a member of the craft club at the Schubert Centre. She took pleasure in knitting clothing, making toys, cards and knickknacks, and decorating and refinishing children’s furniture, then donating the proceeds to the hospital auxiliary and the Food Bank. Her family and friends will greatly miss her sense of humour, many stories and endless generosity.
Born in Masson, Quebec in July 25, 1935 to Henri and May (Hanton) Blanchard, Marg was married in 1955 in Baie Comeau, QC., and is survived by her husband Paul, daughter Susan (Alan) Brandoli, grandchildren Emilia and Aaron Brandoli, and also by her sisters Joan (George) Heinmiller, Terry Blanchard, Dorothy (Bo) Dewar, Marlene (Dick) Goulette, Barb (Jacques) Trudel, and brother Robert (Doreen) Blanchard as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Jaqueline (Leo) Caya and brother Henri (Edith) Blanchard. She lived for many years in Toronto, then Weyburn (Sask), and moved to Vernon in 1991.
The family would like to thank the excellent caregivers at Vernon Jubilee Hospital Emergency and ICU for their kind and compassionate care. For those wishing to do so, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (#4-1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9) or the charity of their choice.
As Marg requested no formal funeral service, the family gathered to celebrate her life.
