Feb 24, 1922 - Jan 4, 2018
Margaret was born on February 24th, 1922 in Reichesdorf, Siebenburgen, Romania and passed away in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital after a brief illness on January 4th, 2018 at the age of 95 years.

Margaret was predeceased in 2014 by Stefan Zink, her loving husband of 63 years, by her brothers Karl and Andreas, and her sister Regina. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by two daughters, Lilo (Brian) Weatherill and Rose-Marie (Ken) Brown; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Keith) Conley, Daniel Weatherill , Jeff (Katlin) Brown, Ashley Brown and Brittney Brown; three great grandchildren, Ashton and Lauren Conley, Briarley, and Emersyn Brown, and several extended family members in Germany.

Margaret lived in Romania and Germany prior to immigrating to Canada in 1950.  She came directly to Vernon to join her fiance Stefan Zink, a fellow Romanian from a nearby village, who had immigrated to Vernon the previous year.  Stefan and Margaret were married on July 1st, 1950 in St. John's Lutheran Church. Margaret and Stephan enjoyed a rich and successful union for nearly 64 years.

Margaret's primary role was that of a homemaker. She worked hard to support both her husband and children. She loved her family deeply and particularly cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, to whom she was known as Oma.  She also worked many years doing custom housecleaning for several loyal clients.

Margaret was passionate about her cooking and knitting. She could always be found in the kitchen preparing scrumptious meals for her family and friends, using her many recipes from the "old country", or in her lounge chair working on one of her beautiful knitted creations.  Margaret was an avid gardener, both vegetables and flowers; she not only preserved but also shared her bounties with others.  She had a great gift of arranging floral pieces. Margaret will forever be remembered by family and friends for the countless hours she spent playing Rummikub, a game which she enjoyed with a passion.

Margaret enjoyed memberships and associating with many friends in the I.O.D.E, the Gardening Club of Vernon, the Lions Club of Vernon, and the Edelweiss Society as well as, in recent years, a member of the Schubert Centre where she enjoyed knitting in the craft group and attended numerous activities.

Margaret's family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the Vernon Jubilee emergency department and the 6th floor for their care of Mama and Oma, The Vernon Restholm and Dr. Lindsay Hayward.

Also a very special thank you to Jack Gareb (Schubert Centre) for all he has done over the years.

Finally, a special thank you to Lucy Mann for all the Sunday Rummikub sessions, for chauffeuring to various appointments, and for being a lifelong friend.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on the day of Margaret's birthday, Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Roy White officiating. A Reception will follow in the Bethel Tea Room.
