Maria Chaput

was born on June 7th, 1923 in Papendrecht, Holland and passed away on November 14th, 2014 in Creekside Landing at the age of 91 years.

Maria will be lovingly remembered by her husband Wallace, to whom she was married for 69 years; one son, Paul (Betty) Chaput of Rock Creek, B.C.; one daughter, Ingrid (Bob) O’Brien of Las Vegas, Nevada; six grandchildren, Terry Chaput, Tony (Erika) Shephard, Dan Blackmore, Nicole Blackmore, Michelle Koot and Mark (Wendy) Ropps; nine great-grandchildren, Logan, Dana, Audrey, Toni-Ray, Zachary, Jared, Julia, Abby and Max. She was preceded in death by one son, Terry Chaput in 1980; four sisters and one brother.

Maria came to Canada in 1947 as a war bride and resided in Lumby from that time on until two years ago when she moved into Vernon to reside at Creekside Landing. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who deeply loved and cared for her family. She loved to crochet and knit and spent many years enjoying her daily walks.

The Funeral Service will be held at the Lumby United Church on Friday, November 21st, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. with Pastor David Bunn officiating. Interment will follow in the Lumby Cemetery.
