Maria Edna Letkeman passed away suddenly in Bastion Place, Salmon Arm, BC on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at the age of 91 years.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Enderby on Thursday morning, August 2nd at 10 a.m. with Father Tony Ackerman the celebrant.
Members of the family are pallbearers, Jim, Bob, Nancy, Dave, Clarence and Karen Froess, and Thomas Koppmann, having all sold berries and asparagus on the farm.
A reception will follow in the Parish Hall, catered by the CWL. Cremation will follow, with interment to follow at a later date.
Born in Prud’homme, Saskatchewan on June 4, 1921. At the age of 15, she travelled to Abbotsford where she later met and married David Letkeman. In 1958 she arrived with her family to the Enderby area, here she worked with her fruit farm, serving the area with her fresh berries and asparagus.
After the death of her husband David in September 1983, she lived in the town of Enderby until July 10, 2011 when she moved into the Shuswap Lodge Retirement Residence, Salmon Arm to enjoy her final year. She quickly shared love and respect with each of the staff.
Maria leaves her loving and dedicated daughter and family; Margaret (Clarence) Froess of Enderby; Grandchildren, Jim Froess, Bob (Nancy) Froess, Karen (Thomas Koppmann) Froess. The youngest of 9 children, Maria also leaves two sisters, Anne Lepsynji of Ontario and Julie Lamont of Kelowna, as well many nieces and nephews.
