Maria Wilhelmina van den Tillaart

1919 – 2013

After 94 years of a life well lived, Maria Wilhelmina van den Tillaart of Armstrong passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in Salmon Arm. Born in the Netherlands on May 5, 1919, Maria and her husband John immigrated to Canada in 1948 with the dream to own a dairy farm. They realized their life’s goal and much more throughout their years in Deep Creek.

Maria left this world with an incredible legacy. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Corrie (Larry) Loomes, Mary (Dave) Veale, Caroliena (Bruce) Turner, Tony (Susan) van den Tillaart, Margaret (Pat) Zerr; daughter-in-law: Charlotte van den Tillaart; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren. Her husband and her son Adriaan predeceased her.

Her family is eternally grateful for the gifts she taught them, a life lived with kindness, caring, love, and the value of hard work.

All are welcome for Prayers at 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 29, 2013 and a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2013, both at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (3335 Patterson Drive, Armstrong, BC).
