“The whole of life is but a moment of time. It is our duty, therefore to use it, not to misuse it” (Plutarch).
With tenacity and courage Marian Read succumbed to numerous medical conditions and sought a world of less pain on January 26, 2009. Marian passed quickly as she was a classy lady who always knew when it was time to leave. Marian was loved from the moment of her birth as she was widely anticipated by her four older brothers, John (Eileen), Donald (Barb), Marshal (Jean), and Tommy (Verna) Griffiths. She continued to be loved and cherished by her husband and soul mate for fifty four years, James (Jim) Read. The couple first met as teenagers at a Roller Rink in Vancouver BC and later moved to Vernon in 1970. During this time she was a mother to Kathy (Bob) Morgan and Jay (Kelly) Read. She was the proud grandmother of Kelsey Wheelhouse (Kevin Robertson) and most recently became a great-grandmother to Quentin Robertson. She loved her family deeply and cultivated strong bonds with her daughter and only grand-child Kelsey. Marian will be mourned by life long friends many family members and numerous cohorts. She was a fun loving woman who enjoyed many activities, like bowling, golfing and later a good game of darts. She will be greatly missed by so many people whose lives she touched with her great smile and loving ways.
Marian was more than a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she was our friend.
