Marie Sherman (Depree)

January 25, 1937 – October 8, 2021
Marie Sherman born Jan 25,1937 in New Westminster BC passed away peacefully on Oct 8, 2021.
Marie a classy lady of large stature in both height and recognition led an interesting life. Corporal Marie Depree of the Canadian Armed Forces (1957-1962) competed in discus in both the British Empire Games and the Pan American Games. Named Canadian champion in 1958 and inducted to the CAF Sports Hall of Fame in 1976.
Marie continued on with careers as a nurse, prison guard and owner/ operator of Echo Lake Fishing Resort in Lumby BC. In retirement Marie did volunteer work for the MS Society of Vernon BC.
In her spare time Marie could be seen reading, doing crosswords, shopping or spending time with her family.
She will be missed by her daughter Christine (Darrin), daughter-in-law Wendy, grandchildren Ryan Scheidt (Sierra), Bobbe Koenig (Nik), Jenny, great grandson Finn Koenig and many friends and extended family.
Marie was predeceased by her husband Richard (Dick) and son Harrison (Andy). May they rest in peace together.
