Passed away peacefully at Noric House, Vernon, British Columbia, Canada.

Marion was born at Pallance Road, Northwood, Cowes, Isle of Wight, England on October 11 1927 the daughter of Lesley and Lillian Read.

She was educated at Wyatts Lane Primary School and then Denmark Road School in Cowes, Isle of Wight. When she left school she was employed at a local confectionery shop, owned by the late Mr Busby of Winkle Street, Calbourne.

Marion met her future husband Wesley Laflamme on Cowes Esplanade on May 19 1942. Wesley was in the Canadian Army at the time and went to Dieppe on August 19 1942. He also served in the D-Day Landings. They got engaged on January 9 1944 and were married on August 8 1945 at Northwood Church, Cowes. She emigrated to Canada in 1946 and started her new life in Montreal, Quebec.

They built the family home at Deux Montagne, Quebec where they resided until 1980 and then moved to Ontario and finally British Columbia.

Marion and Wesley enjoyed 71 years of marriage of which 31 were spent in retirement. During this time they travelled extensively around Canada and the USA with their van and trailer. They enjoyed many weekend fishing trips. Sadly Wesley passed away on March 29, 2016.

Marion leaves three children Sandra, John and Ross, four grandchildren Robert, Laura, Erin, Jolene and two great grand children Kai and James.

Marion enjoyed her stay at Noric House and the family would like to thank all the staff for their loving care and attention during her stay.
