died on February 18th at Noric House at the age of 87 years. She was born in Campbellton, New Brunswick, January 25th, 1919 to Roger and Catherine Dickey. At an early age, she moved with her family to BC, where her father worked in the logging industry. They lived in various communities including Dewdney and Pemberton, before settling in Vancouver. Her brothers, Doug, Gord, and Rod and her granddaughter Jennifer predeceased her.
Marion worked as a physician’s receptionist for a few years waiting for Les, her husband (for over sixty- five years) to return home after the war. They had an interesting life of travel, as Les was a career officer in the RCAF. They lived in many places including Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, Fort Nelson, Penhold, Winnipeg, Richmond, Victoria, Tsawwassen, Duncan, and White Rock before moving to Vernon in 2000. They have two sons: Barry (Ann) and Roderick (Mary), five grandchildren Stephanie (Steve), Christopher, Rebecca, Jeremy and Brent, and one great grandson, Nicholas Good.
Marion was a terrific mother renowned for her giggling sense of fun. She was a classic beauty with natural social grace. We will not forget her wicked golf swing.
Her devoted husband Leslie, family, and friends (especially Mary Pearson) will sadly miss her.
A very special thank you to all of the staff at Noric House and to Dr. David Naismith for ensuring her more than five years in their care was always sensitive and caring.
