Marion Cooper Rands
April 16,1921 – April 21,2010
Our loving, gentle mother passed away at Shuswap Lake General Hospital after a short illness.
Marion was born in Pleasantdale, Sask. When her family moved to B.C., she completed her schooling in Enderby and met her husband, George. George taught school and Marion built a warm and loving nest for their family of four. Friends and strangers alike were always welcomed into her home and cabin at Mabel Lake to share beautiful meals and hospitality. Lending a hand and a kind word wherever she went, she gathered residents at Parkview Place to bake and laugh together, served lunches at the GDP program, sewed quilts for the Women’s Transition House, worked with IODE, volunteered at school, and loved taking little ones under her wing, all expressions of her love and faith in God. She had a full life enjoying gardening, knitting, cross-country skiing, swimming, travelling, walking, but paramount in her life was her time spent with her family and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, George in 1992, and her sister, Marjorie Brown of Summerland. She will forever be lovingly remembered by her children, Barb (Ron) Nadrozny, Beverly (Bob) Fincaryk, George (Linda) Rands, all of Enderby, and Julie (Allan) Collins of Quesnel, 10 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren; also sisters Margaret Woods, Sicamous, Betty Young, Vancouver, and twin sister Helen Woods, Sicamous, numerous nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, April 26, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. at Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 2980 Smith Drive, Armstrong, BC., with her son, Pastor George Rands officiating. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to do so may make donations in Marion’s memory to the Africa Relief and Support Services for the aids orphans of Kenya, a charity dear to her heart.
Arrangements in the care of Personal Alternative Funeral Services, 250-546-7237.
