It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joan Packota (nee Willison) at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, May 22 with family by her side.
Joan, 91, was born in St. Catherines, Ontario on February 1, 1932 and retired to Vernon with her late husband, John Packota, in 1985.
She will be remembered by her children, Valerie of Toronto, Ronald (Trudy) of Coldstream, Kathy of Toronto, Susan of Thunder Bay, Marcia (Peter) of Oshawa, and Marianne of Calgary. Also her eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Joan was predeceased by her stepson Leslie in 2001.
Joan graduated from University of Toronto School of Nursing in 1955. She was an RN in London, Ontario and at Thunder Bay General Hospital where she met her husband, John Packota. She finished her career in Public Health as a supervisor in Northwestern Ontario.
Her husband John passed away in 1994. Joan met Donavan Pool through the All Saints Anglican Church and they married in 2004.
She was predeceased by her husband Donavan in 2019.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in late summer.
